The Bristol Fashion Show is organised by a community of volunteers

Our aim is to encourage a community of local designers to engage and get involved in more of what they love to do by highlighting some of the incredible hidden talent that Bristol holds.

Fashion shows are just the start of a dream to bring people, who share interests and talents, together in a way that forwards our vision; one of a real community effort that gives everyone the opportunity to connect and expand. We want to do this by bringing together not only the designers, but photographers, hair and makeup artists, models and everyone else that contributes to making this dream happen.


Our dream originated at Hamilton House in Stokes Croft, Bristol.  Triggered by a real sense of togetherness within the beautiful but small creative community Hamilton House is home to. This inspired us to take this dream to a higher level and reach out further into the wider community.

This collection is breast feeding friendly, designed to flatter the postpartum body and suit and adapt to a mothers changing form. The items shown today are made using a sustainable textiles. These designs can be made in a variety of textiles, and adapted to suit different body shapes and needs. Hidden zips allow these to be discretely breast feeding friendly – but not exclusive to those breastfeeding.

Sew darn good is a small business focused on the design and making of clothing, and the teaching of others, ran by London College of Graduate graduate Amy Harris. Amy is passionate about creating timeless, quality pieces using sustainable textiles.

versatile one off occasion wear

@blackolivedesign is the brainchild of Bristol based designer Charly Evans. After graduating from a theatrical costume degree, Charly went on to work for a leading sewing machine company and taught dressmaking and textiles for many years. Although her first passion would be teaching, starting Black Olive has allowed her to promote her personal passion of digital embroidery and applique. Many of the outfits in the collection are personalised with the customers name, nickname, logo or theme. Black Olive's aim is to create versatile one off occasion wear, for a range of sizes and ages, perfect for festivals or party occasions. We are looking forward to seeing her first collection since university which is titled De Beaux Amis (Beautiful Friends), a dedication to the motivation her friends have given her in this new venture.

I have always been creative and have many fond memories of drawing pictures of nature, animals and underwater scenes with my dad and as I got older making and building woodwork with my granddad in his shed.
I love learning new skills and how to use different art and craft techniques. I don't think my desire to learn and experiment will ever change. I believe that this desire is what drives my creative process which then leads to the creation of something new and unique.
My Umi collection is inspired by the ocean and includes my Lucky Koi and a jewellery set inspired by tentacles and coral. These statement pieces of jewellery are all solid sterling silver and they add a bit of brilliance and intrigue to any outfit.

Olive and Rosy curate clothing collections for a mindful style with a little 'dolce vita'. An Italian/South West partnership who apply to fashion the principles they adopt in their slow food deli, of quality, traceability and small production. Working with small ethical and sustainable brands predominantly in Italy but also Spain and the South West UK the collection includes upcycled cashmere, fabrics reclaimed from the manufacturing process of larger brands,organic and natural fibres plus some restored vintage and pre-loved pieces. I design and make a stunning range of custom scarves, wraps and infinity scarves in my gorgeous gift shop in Chew Stoke on the outskirts of Bristol. Each one is intricately knitted in Egyptian cotton and Italian rayon before being hand finished. My designs offer colour and sophistication, brightening up even the dullest of days.

Little Owl makes originally started as something for me to do in between drinking coffee and
chain smoking in the early hours when I could not sleep.
I use reclaimed t shirts, deconstruct them and with the use of dye and scissors I turn them into fun
and quirky pieces.
I also make wire jewellery and dread beads.

I feel chuffed to have worked with incredible creatives across the South West for commercial, media, editorial, fashion, music, weddings as well as face & body painting events. ALB is all about nature and the art of stitching, fabrics are dyed naturally using plants to create colours and patterns that can never be mass
produced. When you wear one of my creations you are wearing true couture aka natures own colours.
From the lost and found, scraps of antique laces and old silks, wool and denim jackets are transformed with natural dyeing and hand stitching into works of art.

I’ve always had a love of making things but never found the one thing that
seemed right for me. After a couple of years of getting frustrated that I
couldn’t find leotards to fit my tall and slender daughter, I decided to have a go
myself. Having heard lots about the difficulties of working with stretch fabric I
was cautious, it worked and I knew this was meant for me so I started making
costumes for her gymnastics group and the idea grew to start my own
business.
So here I am, just starting out - Moongaze Leotards – primarily gymnastic
training and competition leotards but also dance / fitness wear. The
Moongaze name came about after reading a series of books which mentioned
moongazey hares jumping and flipping around at full moon. I loved the idea
of the hare and moon. With help from my niece and a design friend it turned into my logo.

We are presenting an Indian bridal make up and Henna, which sums up in Hindu culture as Solah Sringar (Solah means 16 and Sringar means adornments).
The solah Sringar beautify the bride from head to toe and contribute to her complete beautification. The adornment consists of traditional makeup, stunning jewellery, floral embellishments and painting of body parts. It a process of complete makeover.

The organiser had seen Charlie MC-ing at a Folk Festival and thought he'd be a great fit for this show - and we weren't wrong. He played a huge role in the success of last year's show so we're thrilled he's back again this year.
